About Me

Originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, I have been playing guitar for around 29 years, first picking it up at the age of 12 and instantly falling in love. In 2005 I graduated from Salford University with a First Class Honours Degree in Popular Music and Recording. Since then I went on to become head of guitar tuition at Life Music in Chester, before moving back to Manchester and establishing myself as a freelance guitar tutor. I have also taught in colleges in the Greater Manchester area.

I am vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for Manchester based Progressive Metal outfit Spires. We have released three full length albums and an acoustic EP, to widespread international critical acclaim. I have also released a solo album and EP to fantastic reviews in both print and online media, and currently perform live with cello, violin and percussion under the guise of the 'Paul Sadler Collective.' I am also the vocalist and guitarist for the Anglo-German progressive rock project 'Haven of Echoes', whose latest album was released through Construction Records.

I have played in bands all around the UK and even into Europe since I was sixteen, playing in venues such as Manchester Academy, The Cavern in Liverpool and Bloodstock Festival in Derby. I listen to a wide range of music, from Metal and Rock right through to Jazz and Classical, and I believe a wide base of inspiration is essential to produce a well rounded player. It is my passion and enthusiasm for playing and writing that I believe will rub off on my students. After all, if its not fun for you, why bother!
